HANNOVER MESSE 2019: Welcome to the age of industrial intelligence

2018-11-7

Hannover. Industrie 4.0. Artificial intelligence. Additive manufacturing. Cobots.  Such terms are common today in industry. With the lead theme “Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence”, HANNOVER MESSE 2019 – the world’s leading tradeshow for industrial technology – delivers insights into how man and machine will work together during the next stage of digital transformation.

From 1 to 5 April 2019 in Hannover, Germany, exhibitors demonstrate that digitalization is the future of manufacturing – but in the form of assistance, not competition. Thanks to technologies such as automation, strength-boosting exoskeletons and augmented reality, factory workers are more productive than ever.

“Globalization and digitalization are driving industrial transformation,” said Marco Siebert, Director International Relations, Deutsche Messe AG. “HANNOVER MESSE is the venue where the global business, manufacturing and political communities gather to discuss these two crucial topics as well other current issues and challenges facing industry. For example, how do we ensure that algorithms enable machines to process and react to data logically but not act nefariously?”

The 2019 program features six main exhibit sectors: Integrated Automation, Motion and Drives (automation, power transmission, motion control and fluid technology), Integrated Energy (conventional and renewable energy systems), Digital Factory (software and IT for production), Industrial Supply (subcontractors and lightweight design), ComVac (compressed air and vacuum technology), and Research & Technology (applied research and technology transfer). Key topics run from machine learning, robotics, digitalization and IT security to sector coupling in the energy industry, supply chain management, lightweight design and e-mobility.

More than 6,500 exhibiting companies from 70 countries and 225,000 visitors from 80 countries will participate in 2019. Two thirds of exhibitors and one third of visitors come from outside of Germany. Approximately 95 percent of visitors are trade professionals. In 2018, roughly 8 percent of visitors (16,100) and 23 percent of exhibitors (1,160) came from Asia.

Global platform for startups, learning and networking
Digital transformation is a driving force in today’s industrial marketplace. HANNOVER MESSE hosts more than 90 conferences and that cover this and many other major trends and topics in industry.

For example, the forum Industrie 4.0 Meets the Industrial Internet draws upwards of 8,000 attendees. Global Business & Markets, HANNOVER MESSE’s foreign trade platform, hosts 220 exhibitors and attracts more than 5,000 participants. Young Tech Enterprises, the startup hub at HANNOVER MESSE, consists of an exhibition, a forum, pitches, matchmaking events, and workshops.

A new highlight for 2019 is the Industrial Pioneers Summit on 2 April, which brings together thought leaders and innovators from all fields to discuss strategies and scenarios for the future of industry, business and society.

Partner Country Sweden
Sweden is Partner Country of HANNOVER MESSE 2019, a designation that further strengthens the bilateral partnership that Sweden and Germany signed in early 2017. Sweden’s four focal points for the show are electro mobility, e-health, test facilities for innovation, and the digitalization of SMEs.  Sweden’s main exhibit is in Hall 27. Visitors will find additional Swedish technology pavilions throughout the show. The supporting program includes the Swedish-German Business Summit as well as various forums and networking events about innovation and business opportunities in Sweden.
