A “Poetic Trip for a Broader Horizon”, Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2019 Grandly Open Today

Guangzhou embraces the annual Asian-Pacific region’s tourism event after the lunar new year—— Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2019 (GITF 2019). The show’s opening ceremony was grandly held at China Import and Export Fair Complex Guangzhou in this morning. Officials of the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, Guangzhou Municipal Propaganda Department, Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism Bureau, Guangzhou Taiwanese Affairs Office, Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipality, the representatives of the tourism industry in China Hong Kong and China Macao, the county magistrate of Taitung County, the State Minister of Tourism Development ,Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs in Sri Lanka, and representatives of Deustche Messe AG jointly unveiled the opening of GITF 2019. More than 300 guests from tourism administrations at home and abroad as well as consul generals and representatives of foreign consulates in Guangzhou attended the event, making the onsite atmosphere quite hot.
Mr. Kai Varrelmann, Director of International Business and M&A, the organizer Deutsche Messe AG expressed at the opening ceremony, “despite a slowdown in global economic growth in recent years, the tourism economy has kept rising steadily.” He believes that as the young consumers continuously increase, China's tourism market still has great vitality and huge commercial potential and new opportunities.
Under the leadership of Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Government, GITF has been successfully held for 26 sessions and become one of the important tourism exhibition events across China and even the whole world.
Ms. Liu Yumei, Director General of Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Municipality stated, “Guangzhou will take its unique advantages of culture and tourism, renew the infinite charm of ‘Lucky Flower City with Baiyun Mountain and the Pearl River’, promote more excellent cultural products and high-quality tourism products to go overseas, and make Guangzhou’s contribution in improving China’s cultural soft power and Chinese cultural influence.”
Besides, to respond to the national strategy of integrated development of culture and tourism implemented last year, GITF2019 will focus on “adding more cultural elements in the tourism”.
This year’s show specially set up a pavilion focusing on culture and tourism life. Total five halls attracted 1,042 exhibitors from 55 countries and regions, covering a display area of 36,000 sqm. New participating countries including Finland, Venezuela, Iran, Mongolia, Fiji will also show up in this Fair.
The partner country Sri Lanka, which is reputed as “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, exhibited at GITF 2019 together with its 18 local travel agencies, hotels and resorts. Germany, Italy, Greece, UK, France, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Romania, Austria, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Switzerland, Slovakia, Norway, Serbia, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Oman, Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, India, Nepal, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania and other countries and regions put great efforts in this exhibition and joined hands with various buyers to expand Chinese market with delicate booths and rich tourism resources.
China nowadays is stepping up its pace in promoting the integrated development of culture and tourism, developing regional tourism and benefiting people with higher quality and lower cost. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism also further proposes to continuously strengthen the effective supply of tourism and high-quality services. Taking the integrated development of culture and tourism as an example, the newly-set Culture & Tourism Life Hall this year has become the greatest highlight. The show invited a large number of cultural figures from the south of the Five Ridges, who will bring many exciting performances including sculpture, painting, Chinese paper cutting and Cantonese opera. The tourism departments of Beijing, Nanjing (Jiangsu), Wuhan(Hubei), Chengdu(Sichuan), Ningbo(Zhejiang), Sanya(Hainan), Qiqihar(Heilongjiang), Suzhou, Qidong and Rugao(Jiangsu), Yulin (Guangxi), Wushan(Chongqing), Yan'an (Shaanxi), Bijie, Qiannan and Fuquan(Guizhou), Shufu(Xinjiang) and other regions, and the exhibitors from South China Alliance Cities, “Nanhai, Panyu and Shunde Tourism Alliance”, Meizhou and Huadu District, Zengcheng District and Nansha District in Guangzhou displayed their local culture and tourism products.
It’s widely recognized across the tourism industry that, the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area plays an important role in the development of the tourism industry. GITF2019 has kept up with the times, and specially built the “Culture Highlights All——Strategic Choice in A Culture and Tourism Era” Summit. The invited speakers from the world jointly explored the integrated development of culture and tourism under the background of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and made in-depth exchanges on grasping the opportunity of integrated industrial development in the new era, exerting the role of tourism in cultural inheritance, dissemination and communication, seeking the path to effectively integrating the culture and tourism, and building the new landscape for integrated development of culture and tourism.
Some 20 foreign and domestic presentations and new product launches will be successively held during the show, so as to provide a one-stop platform for buyers to deeply understand diverse tourism information and explore the international tourism market.
Under the guidance of Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism Bureau, the three-day GITF 2019 featuring a “Poetic Trip for a Broader Horizon”, is organized by Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai and will be open for trade visitors and the public.
