Innovation-Driven and Intelligent Future: 2024 Chengdu International Industry Fair Successfully Concludes

On April 26, jointly guided by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department, jointly supported by Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Economic and Information Technology, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition and the Administrative Committee of Sichuan Tianfu New Area, and co-hosted by Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd., Shanghai Industry & Commerce Exhibition Co., Ltd. of DLG Exhibitions & Events Co., Ltd., Sichuan Tianfu International Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Pengcan Culture Media Co., Ltd, the third Chengdu International Industry Fair (CDIIF) was successfully concluded at the Western China International Expo City.
Under the new theme of “Innovate Industry Chain, Make a Low-Carbon Future”, the three-day CDIIF focused on modernized productivity and future-oriented industries. The Organizing Committee well planned six themed exhibition areas, covering industrial automation, CNC machine tools and metalworking, robots, new-generation information technology and application, energy saving and industrial supporting facilities, and new materials. Especially, the Sichuan Industrial Chain Pavilion was set up at this year’s event. The exhibition space spanning 60,000 square meters, gathered nearly 600 domestic and foreign enterprises and received 48,537 visits, an increase of 10.6% compared to the previous session.
Intelligent Chain Manufacturing and Creation of New Quality Productive Forces
The core of new quality productive forces is innovation. As international competition intensifies and sectors become more segmented and professional, numerous industries are optimizing their innovation chains, industry chains, capital chains, and talent chains to integrate into the future industry systems more quickly, injecting greater impetus into transformation and upgrading. On the site of CDIIF 2024, industry elites from various sectors jointly strove to build a high-quality industrial ecosystem.
In the robot exhibition area, well-known exhibitors showcased their “unique skills”. With high-quality and diversified products, they worked together to build a micro “robot industry ecosystem”. Bona Intelligent, a Sichuan-based enterprise focusing on industrial robots and collaborative robots and providing comprehensive solutions for multi-scenario robot applications, presented its AI + 3D vision + robot solutions. The company also provided a fascinating experience for the audience with an ice cream-serving robot, one of the FR series collaborative robots. According to the president of Loyalty Robotics Welding Systems, the product they brought this year was a solution designed for the automated cutting and welding of large structural components. By leveraging innovative technologies, this product can significantly enhance production efficiency compared to traditional manufacturing methods, thus reducing costs for enterprises and improving their competitiveness. The core of intelligent manufacturing lies in improving the automation level of the equipment itself. In the automation exhibition area, Controlway, which participated in the exhibition for the first time, brought a wide range of sensors, motion control products, and related solutions to the visitors and customers in western China. German company Beckhoff’s latest Beckhoff Vision, which provides equipment manufacturers and end users with a complete image processing system, made its debut in China. “In the case of battery production, workers needed to inspect battery production defects with their eyes. With the application of artificial intelligence, new inspection methods have replaced traditional battery inspection methods, greatly improving production efficiency,” said the key account manager of the Chengdu branch of the company. “We have brought the first industrial AI-enabled intelligent controller in China. We also hope to create more market value through the platform of CDIIF and promote the application of the product in more fields,” said the brand manager of Beijing Kyland Technology. ZKH Industrial Supermarket Shanghai, which has participated in the CDIIF for three consecutive years, showcased an intelligent mini-warehouse featuring “zero inventory, zero time difference, zero process, and zero investment”. It can not only realize intelligent material management but also help enterprises reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Green Development, Low-Carbon Future
This year’s CDIIF responded actively to the national strategy for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and promoted the concept of green development throughout the event. Exhibitors displayed a wide range of green technologies and solutions and jointly promoted the green transformation and sustainable development of the industrial sector.
In the CNC machine tools and metal working exhibition area, Bodor unveiled a new category of laser scanning cutting machines. The upgraded laser scanning cutting machine 3.0 offers innovative experiences in aspects such as sheet cutting and punching. Specializing in the “laser” technology, Han’s Laser showcased a high-speed fiber laser cutting machine, a dual-servo oil-electricity hybrid bending machine, core components of laser equipment, and new intelligent laser manufacturing technologies. Deratech Machine Tool presented an oil-electricity hybrid CNC bending machine, which adopts the latest technology from Deratech Group, Belgium and features better strength, rigidity, and safety. Accurpress launched the 100% self-developed ELITE series featuring energy conservation, environmental protection, low noise, low heat, high efficiency, and high precision, achieving a new height in the technology and application of pure electric bending machines.
During the Sichuan Industrial Chain Exhibition, as many as 50 upstream and downstream enterprises in the hydrogen energy industrial chain showcased products or solutions for stages such as hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and application. At the center of the exhibition area, Dongfang Electric presented a variety of products covering hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transportation, and hydrogen power generation. At the SINOPEC booth, the model of the Green Hydrogen Pilot Project, the world’s largest photovoltaic green hydrogen production project, in Kuqa, Xinjiang attracted the attention of numerous industry professionals. As a national enterprise technology center, Houpu exhibited hydrogen storage bottles with a volume of only 1.55 L. With 100 g of hydrogen stored inside, each bottle can power a 100-km range for two-wheelers. Jinxing Clean Energy, which attended the CDIIF for a second time, presented a series of technologies and equipment for hydrogen production, transportation, refueling, and utilization. Sichuan Rongchuang New Energy exhibited its third-generation 200-kw fuel cell power system at this event. Notably, the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell power system for urban trains was also launched by the company this March.
The third International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Conference was also held concurrently at the same venue, attracting over 500 audiences from government, enterprises, universities, and relevant institutions. They witnessed the achievements of the hydrogen energy industry in Sichuan and even China and also gained insights into global industrial development trends and technological dynamics. The panoramic exhibition of the hydrogen energy industry chain at the Sichuan Industrial Chain Exhibition has reflected Sichuan’s leading position in hydrogen energy technology R&D and application. It also provides an important platform for international exchange and cooperation in the hydrogen energy industry.
High-Level Dialogue, Sparking New Ideas
As an important conference on the opening day of CDIIF 2024, the 2024 Yangtze River Economic Belt Industrial Digital Transformation Conference (Southwest Session) and the Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit was held under the theme of “Intelligent and Digital Transformation—Leading New Industrial Development”. The conference attracted a large number of visitors. Leveraging their rich experience and resources in organizing exhibitions and conferences, the organizers provided a platform for communication and cooperation in the industrial digital transformation of Sichuan and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. This year, an interactive experience area was set up outside the venue. The 2024 Exchange on Chengdu-Chongqing-Shanghai High-Tech Collaborative Innovation and Development was also held successfully. The event focused on industries such as aviation, aerospace, shipping, and automobile, covering popular application scenarios including high-end equipment, artificial intelligence, energy conservation and carbon emission reduction, digitalization, and cybersecurity. During their keynote speeches, participating experts elaborated on the advantages of Shanghai, Chengdu, and Chongqing and emphasized their significant achievements and solid foundation for collaboration. They pointed out that collaborative innovation is not only a way to integrate resources and share knowledge but also a concept of pursuing progress across industries.
During CDIIF 2024, nearly 20 high-profile events were held. Experts and executives from various industries shared industrial policy trends and exchanged production experience, with the purpose of promoting the circle building and chain enhancement of industries, and providing sustained innovation momentum for the high-quality economic development of Chengdu and Chongqing.
As spring returns to the Jinjiang River, a brighter future is lying ahead. In the future, CDIIF will continue to serve as a vital platform for industrial innovation in western China and even across the country and facilitate the deep integration, optimization, and upgrading of industrial chains.
