Top Car Models Gathering in Chengdu to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of China’s Automobile Industry, Chengdu Motor Show 2023 to Kick Off on August 25th

2023 witnesses a year of boosting consumption and marks the 70th anniversary of the development of China automobile industry. By the end of June, the car parc in Chengdu has exceeded 6 million, making it the region with the fastest-growing automobile consumption in China. In addition, the just-concluded Universiade has once again brought about Chengdu’s consumption wave. With the aim of expanding automobile consumption scenarios and stimulating market vitality, the 26th Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS 2023) will be grandly held in Western China International Expo City, co-hosted by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Automotive Industry Committee, and co-organized by Chengdu Expo Bureau, Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone Administration Committee, Chengdu Century City Exhibition Group Co., Ltd., Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd. and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Sichuan Sub-Council.

The CDMS 2023 will be held on August 25th for media, August 26th-27th for trade visitors, and August 28th-September 3rd for the public. The 10-day-event, CDMS, brings together state-of-the-art technologies and achievements in the global automobile industry. A total of 129 automobile brands, including German, American, French, Japanese, Korean, joint venture and independent ones, will hold world debuts for their latest models and showcase hot-selling models in 11 halls, exhibiting nearly 1,600 vehicles and spanning an exhibition area of over 200,000 sqm.

Fast-Paced New Energy Carmakers Showing Muscle
Facing an increasingly fierce competition, new energy vehicle has remained popular among the masses. According to the data of China Automobile Industry Association, the production of new energy vehicles in China has exceeded 20 million as of July this year, marking a new stage of large-scale and high-quality development. Technical reserves and R&D investment have become a must for new energy vehicle enterprises to build their core competitiveness. As the absolute protagonist of this year’s CDMS, the new energy vehicle enterprises headed by the car manufacturing upstarts have been racing each other in technology and strength: Li Auto, NIO, XPeng, LEAPMOTOR, VOYAH, HiPhi, ZEEKR, IM, AVATR, ORA, ARCFOX, Neta, AITO, Aion, DEEPAL, Hyper, Yuanhang and other domestic brands will showcase their hot models at this auto show, expected to bring customers surprises in vehicle safety, manufacturing technology, driving experience, intelligent technology, brand experience and emotional resonance.

IM is about to present the first launch of LS6, its brand-new pure electric medium and large SUV equipped with 800V fast charging system. ARCFOX will build the first “parent-child paradise” with the theme of brand scenarios, and the smart parenting car KAOLA will start pre-sale. Yuanhang Y6 and Yuanhang H8 will be officially launched. The whole series of HiPhi Y equipped with the second-generation NT intelligent wing door and active rear wheel steering in full speed domain will appear at CDMS 2023 in an open-top spaceship posture. ZEEKR and Song Art Museum will jointly build the “ZEEKR Art Gallery”, and the whole product lineup includes ZEEKR 001-009 and the brand-new X model. BYD Group will bring its four brands, Denza, Yangwang, BYD and Formula Leopard, to make a high-profile appearance at the CDMS 2023 for the first time together as a group. It is worth mentioning that the much-watched Yangwang U8 will be officially launched at this auto show; BYD’s high-end brand Formula Leopard will bring the first hard-core SUV Leopard 5 to the auto show as its first show, which marks a strong entry into the new energy vehicle arena.

Extreme Driving Control Demonstrating True Luxury
Luxury brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, Lincoln, Jaguar Land Rover, Cadillac, Volvo, Genesis, and Infiniti together form a beautiful landscape. Genesis G90 will be launched at the CDMS 2023. Mercedes-Benz will launch its ambitious product matrix encompassing both ICE and NEV to maintain its competitiveness in the high-end luxury market. Ultra-luxury brands such as Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley and Lotus will gather in Hall 16, and luxury cars with fancy design and excellent performance will be mounted on the booth to provide the audience with immersive interactive experience and ultimate visual enjoyment. Porsche, which celebrates its 75th birthday, will take this opportunity to release a logo that has been remodeled for three years and plans to put into use this year in order to keep up with the changes in the electrification era. A new generation of Internet car-making brand -- Jidu Automobile will display car robots equipped with highly intelligent driving assistance in urban scenarios, and bring different extravagant experiences to users with extremely intelligent hard-core technologies. As a luxury electric off-road brand launched by Dongfeng Group, the M-Terrain who participates in an exhibition for the first time will try to challenge existing luxury players with a powerful and domineering exterior and a strong mecha style.

In the past 70 years, China’s automobile industry has formed a complete modern industrial system starting from a manufacturing plant to a large number of auto groups, and from a domestic automobile brand to a large number of well-known automobile brands. “Made in China” automakers -- China FAW, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile, SAIC Motor, Guangzhou Automobile Group, Chery Automobile, Geely Group, Great Wall Motor, BYD, Dayun Automobile, etc. will make brilliant appearances to show China’s strength to the world. CDMS 2023 will set up a Trendy Car Life Pavilion, to comprehensively upgrade the diversified experiences in seeing, feeling, driving and enjoying, promote the new fashionable, youth and trendy culture through the activities of life leading, scene immersion, perceptual interaction and leisure experience, create a new way of traveling with trends, and highlight personalized lifestyle in the new era. With the theme of “Hot AI”, the 2023 China Automotive Pioneer Forum will discuss hot industry topics such as how AI empowers all fields of automobiles, affects automobile marketing, and how new technologies resonate with new trends, so as to shape an industry sharing and communication platform, further promote the integration of exhibition and industry, and facilitate further upgrading in Chengdu’s auto industry.

Jaguar Land Rover will build a distinctive PAGODA off-road challenge platform outside the exhibition hall and open it to the public, bringing the audience ultimate sensory stimulation and visual impact, so as to fully demonstrate the outstanding all-terrain strength and convey the fearless “challenger spirit”. With complex terrain combination and harsh road conditions, the realistic version of “The Fast and the Furious” is about to be staged here. While feeling the accelerating heartbeat and sensory stimulation brought by extreme off-road drive, XPeng also set up time-limited challenge activities outdoors. One famous basketball KOL will be invited every day to interact enthusiastically with the audience, and give out exquisite gifts within a limited time.
