Wuhan Motor Show 2019 Successfully Concluded

Today, the 20th Wuhan Motor Show (WHMS 2019) came to a successful close. The show has continued to attract a large number of fans and citizens across the country, and aroused attention from provincial and municipal leaders. As a high-profile professional motor show, WHMS 2019 has recorded a display area of 140,000 sqm with 125 brands and more than 300 exhibitors. More than 20 new models of FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota, Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Honda and other leading automobile manufacturers made debuts on the show.

Embracing Market Changes, WHMS Further Playing the Role as a Platform Converging Automobile Industries in Central China
Albeit confronted with a turning point in China’s automobile market, WHMS 2019 has continued to serve as a platform converging automobile industries in Central China. The exhibition has pooled Dongfeng, GAC, FAW, SAIC Motor, Changan Automobile Groups, various German, American, French, Japanese, Korean automakers and joint venture brands, as well as many independent brands, including Geely, Great Wall, Trumpchi and so on. Moreover, NIO, Grove Auto, Geometry, ORA and other new energy brands also participated. Dongfeng Honda XRV, Dongfeng Honda CRV Sport Turbo, 2020 Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail, FAW-Volkswagen e-Bora, FAW-Volkswagen e-Golf, FAW Toyota RAV4, 2020 Ford Edge and other models made their premier-show in the central region and across China. All exhibitors brought their most competitive products to WHMS, jointly contributing to the pageant of automobile industry in Central China.

The past 24 years has seen stronger and more accurate purchase intentions of visitors, as well as more targeted visitor groups at auto consumer shows. Meanwhile, this year’s WHMS has expanded its marketing deployment in lower-tier cities, and spread publicity to the “8+1” city circle, extending to Xiaogan, Huanggang, Xiantao and other surrounding cities. This has really achieved the aggregation of passenger flows in larger regions.

New Powers of Car Manufacturing Promoting Industry to Focus on Frontier Trends
It’s an irreversible trend of the automobile industry to transform to “new four orientations”. This year, the exhibited models fully reflected motorization, intellectualization, networking and sharing.

As we all know, range has been one of the important factors constraining the development of energy vehicle. FAW-Volkswagen e-Golf, e-Bora and other energy vehicle models displayed at WHMS 2019 have put many efforts in increasing range. As China's first hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered high-end SUV manufactured in Wuhan, Grove made a debut at the new energy exhibition zone, attracting wide attention. Pioneering in the field of hydrogen energy, this model has clean, efficient and low-carbon features. With a carbon-fiber-structured body, the range of Grove can reach more than 1,000 km.

As the automobile industry develops rapidly, networking has almost become one of the basic configurations for cars. Many models displayed at WHMS 2019 have set up the banner of artificial intelligence interaction. For example, NIO ES8 is equipped with the world’s first in-car AI system, which can not only address users’ demands of the vehicle itself, but can continuously learn the habits and interests of users, creating an innovative human-vehicle interaction mode.

TXL/TX, the first model mass-produced by EXEED, is equipped with Baidu’s Apollo IOV OS and i-Connect@Lion 2.0 intelligent system. It realizes face recognition, face-scanning payment, AR live navigation and other applications for the first time, and supports OTA remote software update, comprehensively elevating the intelligence level of the product.

At this year's show, many models launched the concept and features of L2 autonomous driving. 2020 Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail, the only Japanese joint venture SUV equipped with L2 autonomous driving assistance system, was first launched. It is worth mentioning that, Nissan has also developed a revolutionary autonomous driving technology, which can help the driver to control acceleration, braking and steering when driving on a single lane on the expressway with lane identification lines.

Tesla Model X and Model S displayed at WHMS 2019 are both equipped with Autopilot autonomous driving assistance function, which allows for autonomous assisted steering, acceleration and braking of the vehicle on the driving lane. The Full Self-Driving Capability package delivers more powerful functions, and can upgrade the existing functions and introduce new functions through software update, including: automatic assisted navigation and driving, automatic parking, smart summon, automatic assisted lane change.

Now, more and more car manufacturers are joining the car-sharing tide, and transforming to car service providers. Dongfeng Aeolus, a local auto enterprise in Wuhan, has made arrangements on car sharing at an early date. The Free2Move Carsharing jointly developed with others adopts the mobility service mode combining station and stop-and-go mode, where users can sign up for the mobile App, reserve to rent ER30 electric vehicle, and complete the whole process from vehicle using and returning.

High-end Summit Building Think Tanks for Automobile Industry in Central China
At the Sixth China (Wuhan) International Summit on the Development and Cooperation of New Energy and Smart Vehicle that coincided with WHMS, more than 600 guests from the government, institution, finished vehicle, part, energy, investment, transport and other areas across China put forward suggestions on the direction of industrial development policies, corporate practices, development paths, frontier technologies and other hot topics. The Summit has built a communication platform for players in the global automobile industry, achieving good social benefits.

At the Summit, representatives from Hubei Province said that they will make full use of the Yangtze River Industry Fund and other funds to establish a special fund for the development of automobile industry in Hubei Province and form a portfolio of funds supporting key industries; and enterprises in listing and financing on the main board, SME Board, ChiNext, “NEEQ” and “four board”.

After developing for 24 years, WHMS has not only met the needs of people of different ages in Wuhan for buying cars, but powered Wuhan to embark on a new journey as the “Capital of Automotive Industry in China”. Wuhan Motor Show will grow together with Wuhan city by driving industrial development, providing trade opportunities and expanding market services for exhibitors, and taking full advantage of Wuhan's great influence and radiation as a national central city.
